We usually have nothing but love for salmon, after all it is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and just plain tasty.   We love it so much that when we have to celebrate a special occasion, the kids always request salmon sushi.

But, much to the dismay of my sushi loving munchkins, will be giving it a break for now, and so should you!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released an official warning about the possible presence of Diphyllobothrium — otherwise known as Japanese tapeworm, in wild salmon. They have now detected it in wild pink salmon from Alaska, in addition to the salmons coming from Asia.

Therefore, they recommend that "salmon from the American and Asian Pacific coasts and elsewhere pose potential dangers for persons who eat these fish raw.... " and should be avoided.

Salmon caught in the Pacific is often transported and sold in major cities around the world so holding of on salmon sushi and sashimi is a good idea for now 🙀 .
