Sunshine State is Finally Putting All that Sunshine to Good Use

Just in time for @teslamotors unveiling, the very affordable, pricing for their solar roofs (on average, the Tesla solar roof price will be $21.85 per square foot, which is less than the cost of a normal roof, even without the energy savings) more cities across the US are making it mandatory for all new constructions to have solar panels- amazing! The latest city is the city of South Miami.

At least one city in the Sunshine State, Florida, is finally putting all that sunshine to good use and requiring solar panels in all new constructions. The city of South Miami, who's mayor was a biology professor at Florida International University, and who's entire home runs on solar energy, spearheaded the measure that passed this week

Under the new law, new residential construction would require 175 square feet of solar panel to be installed per 1,000 square feet of sunlit roof area and home renovations that replace more than 75 percent of the structure or extend the structure by more than 75 percent would also have to instal solar panels.

San Francisco became the first major city to pass a similar solar panel law in 2016.

I can't wait to see more laws like these passed around the country - what an amazing way to fight climate change and the reduction of our reliance on fossil fuels!!
